Bob Buckhorn keeps showing up on Tampa doorbell cameras. That was the premise of one of the former Mayor’s recent Facebook videos, which stitched together clips of Buckhorn appearing on front porches around the city as The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” played in the background. “2,000 doors knocked. Countless conversations. And somehow, Bob keeps turning up on Ring cameras all across Tampa,” his campaign posted on Facebook. “Spotted him at your door? Share your Ring footage and tag us! 2,000 doors down. We’re just getting started!” It is a modern presentation of an old-school campaign strategy. Buckhorn has spent the past several months documenting his bid to return to City Hall through a steady stream of door-knocking photos, neighborhood updates and direct-to-camera videos. Some are polished campaign posts, while others are more informal and feel like Buckhorn pulled out his phone on the campaign trail and hit record. The door knocking itself is familiar to Buckhorn.
