That is the thinking behind Fast Track Teacher Grants, a new Suncoast High School Foundation program designed to put money in teachers’ hands within five business days. The initiative allows any Suncoast Community High School teacher to submit a one-page request for up to $1,000 for classroom materials, equipment, enrichment programs or other projects that can make learning more dynamic. “Every teacher at Suncoast has a list of things they would do if the money were there,” says Alexander Bondar, President and Chair, Suncoast High School Foundation. “What we heard again and again was not that our teachers lacked ideas. It’s that by the time a request works its way through a committee and a board meeting, the moment for the project has usually passed. Innovation doesn’t wait for an agenda.” Possible gra
