Woman pleads guilty to illegal voting charges after registering in Miami-Dade, feds say

A 23-year-old woman pleaded guilty to charges related to illegal voting in Miami-Dade County, federal prosecutors and Homeland Security Investigations announced on Tuesday. On two voter registration forms submitted to the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections, Valery Zidor falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen, according to federal prosecutors. Zidor, who was born in Haiti, cast a ballot in the 2024 General Election in Miami-Dade, according to U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida. “Election laws have meaning only if they are enforced,” Reding Quiñones said in a statement. “Working with HSI and our law enforcement partners, we will continue to investigate and prosecute deliberate violations of federal election law.”Zidor pleaded guilty to two counts of making a false claim of citizenship to vote and one count of voting by an alien. She faces up to five years in federal prison.
